Government in 2017 mandated NAFCO to take charge of food supplied to state-assisted senior high schools under the Free Senior High School Programme, otherwise known as Free SHS. Under the programme, NAFCO supplies 18 different food commodities to some 737 second cycle institutions made up of secondary, secondary technical as well as technical and vocational schools.

The supply to the school is done with the help of Licenced Suppliers who deliver the food items to schools on behalf of NAFCO.
