Our Business
By the dictates of our mandate, the company engages in two main streams of activities: one strategic and the other commercial.
West Africa Regional Food Security Reserve
In May 2017, NAFCO won a bid to provide storage services for the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (RAAF) under auspices of the ECOWAS Regional Food Security Reserve (RFSR). We hold Maize, Millet, Rice and Sorghum stocks for the sub-regional body.
The ECOWAS Regional Food Security Reserve (RFSR) which helps to strengthen the regions capacity to respond to food crises and ensure food security for the vulnerable populations is also managed in collaborations with NAFCO in Ghana. NAFCO stores a strategic quantity of staple grains such as maize, rice, millet and sorghum. The storage facilities in Ghana serve both national needs and the ECOWAS region thereby enabling food distribution in emergencies like droughts, floods, pest outbreaks etc.
As part of the arrangement, NAFCO gets to play active role in policy formulation, trainings and technical collaborations on wide range of areas bothering on international best practices in food security and safety within the subregion.
